Playground Drainage Work

A contractor has been hired to complete the drainage work at AC Douglas Park

The playground at AC Douglas Park # 1 experienced major flooding this spring.

As a precaution to the public, the playground was closed in March of 2026.

The playground will remain closed until drainage work can be completed and the playground is safe for the public.

At this time, we ask that the public do not enter the playground.

Please check back often for updates.

AC Douglas Park #1 playground replacement is now complete.

Building on the beloved charm of the existing play space — including the iconic red dragon — the new design will feature a castle-inspired theme that sparks creativity and encourages imaginative play for kids of all ages.

The much-loved red dragon isn’t going anywhere — it’s getting a bold new look and will reemerge from the ground, ready to welcome young adventurers to its enchanted new home.

Accessibility and comfort are also getting an upgrade!
The project will include:

  • A fully accessible pathway from the road to the playground
  • An inclusive playground ramp
  • Engineered wood fiber surfacing for safer play
  • New shade trees planted around the area for added comfort

Construction begins May 26. During this time, access to the tennis courts will be available via the East door.

During construction, why not take the opportunity to explore some of the other amazing parks Fort Erie has to offer? Nearby options include:
