Bowen Road Park Playground Improvements
The Town of Fort Erie is improving the playground in Bowen Road Park.
This improvement is part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing playgrounds and play spaces for everyone to enjoy for years to come.
- Fall 2025: Community Engagement
- Winter 2026: Design
- Spring 2026: Construction starts
- Summer 2026: Playground Opens
Through the 2021 Capital Budget process Council approved $136,000 in funding to replace the existing playground equipment in Bowen Road Park, in order to meet the requirements of the AODA and CSA Standard Z614:20.
The playground will be replaced with new equipment that meets the requirements of the Canadian Standards Association and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
In addition to the playground replacement, new fitness equipment will be added to Bowen Road Park.
Phase 1 - Community Engagement
Online Survey
In this phase, the project team collected feedback on the current use of the playground and suggestions for improvements to both the park and playground. This feedback will be used to guide the development of design options.
Key Feedback
Participants wanted to see the following improvements to the new playground:
- A swing set with individual swings (including an accessible swing, toddler swings, and standard belt swings)
- Climbing Features
- Slides
- Natural elements such as rope bridges, large boulders, balance beams and stepping stumps
Participants wanted to see the following Playground Style:
- Nature Inspired/ Waterfront Themed
Participants provided the following additional feedback:
- Additional seating and shade
- Accessibility to the playground and park features
