The project is anticipated to last 60 working days or approximately 12 weeks.

Yes, the Town of Fort Erie has an “As good or better” policy where the contractor is required to replace and repair any damage caused during construction. Aspects of the road within the Town’s right of way may be altered however.

During construction it is required to complete a controlled watermain shutdown to the existing water supply in the area in order to connect the proposed new watermain to the Town's water distribution system. When this is scheduled Town resources will hand deliver notices 24 hours in advance to all properties affected by the water service shutdown.

Due to the age of existing infrastructure there may be times when emergency watermain shutdowns occur due to a watermain break caused by the construction and localized vibration. It is common practice that the contractor does take all precautions necessary to complete the proposed works with minimal water service disruptions.

Advance notice would not be provided should an emergency watermain break occur. All resources would be working efficiently to provide water service to the affected properties as soon as reasonably possible.

Prior to the start of construction and as part of a municipal standard the contractor will be required to conduct internal and external house inspections, to establish the pre-construction condition of your home.

The purpose of this inspection is to determine and document the extent of any cracking or other damage (if any) that exists prior to the commencement of construction. This information can then be used to determine the extent of the Contractor’s responsibility in the unlikely event that damages to your property occur during construction.

All property owners are encouraged to complete a pre-construction survey prior to the start of construction.

The pre-construction survey will be completed by a qualified company that meets municipal requirements. Representatives will hand delivery notices to all properties in the immediate area. These representatives will have identification with them at all times.
