Won't amalgamating these two stations affect response times?

No. We anticipate the same if not shorter response times for emergency calls.

How long will this project take?

The anticipated construction completion date is February 2022.

Why does the Town need a new fire station?

By amalgamating two fire stations 4 and 6, the Town of Fort Erie will save on future capital maintenance costs related to a reduction of fire apparatuses.

How will this investment impact taxes?

This capital project of $6.6M is being funded with a mix of financing sources, some of which are existing and others are incremental to taxes. The budgeted $4.05M in debt will add $438K/year to the Town's tax levy for 10 years but will be offset by $90K/year in expected operational savings and also benefit from the $200K/year in Central Fire Station debt expiring in 2023.

Where will this new station be located?

This new station will be located off Ridge Road North between Frances St. and Rebstock Rd.

What kind of impact has the pandemic had on this project?

The pandemic has slowed construction times and increased the cost of materials needed to complete this project.
