Tree By-law
The current Town of Fort Erie Tree By-law regulates trees located within select woodlands within the Town. Staff are seeking input from residents regarding potential amendments to the by-law, including:
- Types of trees that are regulated
- Compensation for destroyed and injured trees
- Exemptions
- Permitting process
Public Consultation
An Open House was held on Monday, September 25, 2023 regarding amendments to By-Law No. 60-04 – A By-Law to Regulate the Destruction, Injury and Harvesting of Trees in The Town of Fort Erie. The Council of the Town of Fort Erie subsequently held a Public Meeting on Monday, November 27, 2023.
On Monday, February 12, 2024 Council approved amendments to By-Law No. 60-04 – A By-Law to Regulate the Destruction, Injury and Harvesting of Trees in The Town of Fort Erie, and directed Staff to submit the necessary By-law to Council for adoption.
