The Town manages 34 parks, over 34 kilometers of actively used recreational trail, and a variety of waterfront parks and access points. With projected population growth of 32% over the next 20 years, the Parks and Open Space Master Plan will provide a strategy to help meet the needs of current and future community members, improve quality of life for residents, and encourage a sustainable environment.

Community Engagement

The first two public open houses occurred on February 15th, 2018.The second round of public open houses occurred on March 6 and 7th, 2024. The purpose of this open house was to gather feedback from the community. Four questions were asked relative to our existing park system - what do you like best about the parks and what are the strengths, how does the system need to improve and what are the most important improvements the be made, How can parks help us take part in outdoor activities, enjoy being social, preserve the environment and appreciate history and culture, and what do you hope the parks and open space system will look like in 10 years.

In addition, in 2018 February 500+ and in 2024 March over 150 people took the time to complete the survey and share your thoughts with us - your input will help set the priorities and guide the development of the Parks and Open Space Master Plan.
