The Town is looking at an area of Shirley Road that is currently experiencing flooding concerns. The issue has been determined to be a combination of varying water levels and strong winds pushing water down Lake Erie to create a seiche; a standing wave in a (partially) enclosed body of water.
The Town is cognisant of residents concerns and, in September 2020, retained the services of EWA Engineering Inc. to undertake a high level review of options, looking at ways to address the issue and impact of flooding.
COVID-19 Provisions
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Town is moving away from traditional, in-house, public consultations and is transitioning to host our Public Consultations online. Residents are provided with the opportunity to provide feedback about the results of the study conducted as well as the recommended solution available to the affected area.
Update: Q4 2021
Further to the above, the Town is pleased to announce that CRL Campbell Construction & Drainage Ltd. has been awarded the tender, undertaking the proposed works.
Construction is expected to proceed in Spring (Q2) 2022 due to long lead times for some project components, followed promptly thereafter with road reconstruction.

The contractor, CRL Campbell Construction & Drainage Ltd. is working with suppliers to obtain the components required for this project. All project components are expected to be delivered by the end of April 2022, with construction starting shortly after that.
